Equipment Operator

Equipment Operator is an intermediate level position. Duties include:

  • Hand grade base material to designated elevation in preparation for concrete placement
  • Loading and unloading truck
  • Set and, assemble and remove, wood and metal forms for placing of concrete
  • Place and move concrete using hand tools
  • Edge and joint concrete under direction of supervisor
  • Perform job site clean ups
  • Basic landscaping as required

This position requires a working knowledge of heavy equipment including but not limited to, excavators, skid steers, backhoes, trucks, dozers, graders, compactors and other smaller machines. The operator will work under direct supervision, but without detailed instruction, handling, at a more skilled level, a variety of machinery and equipment used to complete tasks and projects. Additionally, this position requires knowledge and experience surrounding construction, physical ability to complete the necessary tasks, and ability to adhere to strict safety standards. This position may also require temporary travel to a work site out of town or state. 


Minimum Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of power tools
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to use or learn to use hand tools including but not limited to shovels, saws, hammers, wheel barrows, floats, trowels, jointers, and edgers
  • Ability to use or learn to use basic measuring instruments including but not limited to tape measurers, carpenter’s levels, and thermometers
  • Ability to use or learn to use small power tools and equipment including but not limited to saws, drills, and tamps
  • Must be able to pass a drug test
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Physical ability to perform general physical activities in construction areas

Preferred Skills

  • Extensive experience in construction
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
